Music Performance Adjudication
On March 6, 2015, members of the Northeast seventh and eighth grade bands traveled to Jacksonville, NC to participate in Music Performance Adjudication.   They spent several weeks preparing three selections of music and were given scores on their performance by three judges.  A fourth judge gave them music the students and director had never seen before (sight reading) and the group had five minutes to silently look over their music and then play the selection.   Northeast is very proud that the band, under the direction of Jenifer Hutson, received ‘excellent’ ratings from all judges on their prepared music and a ‘superior’ rating (the highest attainable) on the sight reading.

Students that participated in the event were: Eighth graders Maria Antonopoulos, Layla Brock, Sheena Columbus, Natalie Hudnell, Tamia Ormond, Megan Riddick, Carrie Ryan, Nancy Soto, Hunter Taylor, Ari Tourlitis, Samantha Warren, Shaliyah Williams, Alexis Ziff. Seventh grade students were Ke’Shayla Arthur, Kaylee Cahoon, Brandon Cooper-Coggins, Matthew Cullom, Rachael Daleo, Jakyla Harvey, Carson Hasty, Danyell Hicks, Ve’Era Holloway, Katie Hopkins, Chris Martin, Shakira Roberson, Jazmine Saunders, Regiana Selby, Chase Smith, Jacob VanGyzen, Donyai Williams, Antonio Windfield and Ronnie Winfield.

The Northeast varsity science olympiad team won second place at the Greenville regional competition and  are heading to the state competition.
